Head Coach - Michael Loyd

Coach Michael Loyd enters his 3rd season with the Kennesaw Mountain Girls Volleyball team. In conjunction with coaching, Loyd serves as a Professional School Counselor here at Kennesaw Mountain HS. Prior to Loyd’s arrival, the Mustangs had five consecutive losing seasons. Under his leadership, the Mustangs have turned the program around and have gone 53-42 the past two seasons. Going 29-20 in 2016 and 24-22 in 2015. In both 2016 and 2015, Loyd  coached 2 All- Area honorees. The mustangs have made it to the State Tournament the past 15 seasons.  
 
Prior to relocating to Georgia, Coach Loyd resided in St. Louis where he coached and was an assistant director for H2 Saint Louis Volleyball club. His teams were consistently ranked in the top ten in the region with competitive finishes at National events. Coach Loyd has coached numerous Division I athletes that are playing at schools such as Butler, Arkansas State, Murray State and others.  
 
During the 2013 season, Coach Loyd coached JV at Ritenour High School in St. Louis where his team went 23- 2. In 2012, his team broke the record for best JV record at 21-1-3. In 2011, Coach Loyd was the head Varsity volleyball coach at Fort Zumwalt East where under his leadership he led the team to their first winning season, most wins in school history,  and a 2nd  place conference finish. They finished 20-9. While at Zumwalt East, Coach Loyd coached four All-Conference selectees, one All –District selectee, and one All- Region selectee. Coach Loyd has worked various college camps such as at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Dayton, Southern Illinois, and Washington University- St. Louis.
 
Coach Loyd believes that hard work pays off and focuses a lot on technical training. “I am very excited to continue to grow the program here at The Mountain. There are strong roots here and we are looking to get back to that level.”. Coach Loyd believes in developing the total athlete. “There are so many lesson that are learned every day through this incredible sport. We learn not only volleyball in our gym ,but lessons that they will be able to use through-out life.”

JV Head Coach - Cindy Faulkner

Coach Faulkner enters her 14th year with the Kennesaw Mt. Volleyball program. She is a member of the physical education department at KMHS and also serves as the Head Girls Track coach at the Mountain.

Middle School Coach - Kelsey Bennett

Kelsey enters her first season with Jr Mustangs. Kelsey is a Kaysville, Utah native and began her playing career at Fairfield Junior High School. She played her high school volleyball at Davis, as well as playing basketball and running track. She chose to continue on with her volleyball career at Salt Lake Community College in Utah. Kelsey was a libero for Salt Lake Community College in 2008 and 2009 before moving on to play at Campbell University in North Carolina, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in exercise science. At Salt Lake Community College, Kelsey was a key player on teams that finished ninth at NJCAA Nationals in her freshman year and fourth in her sophomore season. At Campbell University, she led the team in digs in both her junior and senior seasons. Bennett served an internship on the Campbell staff in the spring of her senior season and specializes in working with back row players and the defensive aspects of volleyball. She was voted to multiple All-Tournament Teams as a player at SLCC and at Campbell.

 

Kelsey returned to Salt Lake Community College to coach following her volleyball playing career at Campbell. She was on the coaching staff for four seasons, three of which she was the head strength and conditioning coach. Outside of coaching at SLCC, Kelsey was a sports performance trainer at The Orthopedic Specialty Hospital, where she had the opportunity to train a variety of athletes. Kelsey also coached a 14’s team at Club V for a season.

 

Bennett recently moved to Marietta with her husband Nate. She is currently coaching the 15-1's team at Cobb Atlanta and runs fitness for all their teams. Kelsey is excited to be a part of the Kennesaw Mountain Volleyball program.
